The 'classical' help refrence for Linux based firewalls is http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.net/ I can't say muich about other products, but in a raw filtering standpoint, it has great flexability. Mind you, you also have to babysit more often since most tools don't automate much for the firewall work. The few tools that are good at automating the rule setup process also limit the amount of flexability that you can implement. Also, Policy routing and load balancing are reasonably effective from here as well. Another part of the firewall I'm really looking forward too is the active-state failover that Harald Welte is working on. It'll make n-thousand dollar stacks less relevant. The combination of Linux tools and ease of admin will always be a growth area for Linux in this segment, but the raw functionality is really catching up with the big guys. _______________________________________________ firewall-wizards mailing list firewall-wizards () honor icsalabs com http://honor.icsalabs.com/mailman/listinfo/firewall-wizards
