A Linksys NAT router box is selling for only $40 at Amazon as we speak. Besides protecting against the MSBlaster worm, a hardware firewall blocks those annoying Windows pop-up spam messages which have become so common lately. A hardware firewall also protects a shared Windows directory from being accessed from the Internet. My only question is why aren't NAT routers built into all cable and DSL modems. Richard M. For the same reason a Kia Sephia doesn't come with 20-inch rims and an in-dash DVD-player. People who want that functionality can purchase it seperately. People who don't want that functionality don't need to pay $40 more for a feature they'll never use. Should all cable and DSL modems mix drinks as well? I for one enjoy a nice Grey Goose martini while reading ComputerBytesMan.com.
