The mainstream press starting with Wired is starting to blast Intego for blowing the Mac OS X Trojan out of proportion. What the company left out, and what has come apparent. Is that the virus was a proof-of-concept that Mac programmer Bo Lindbergh wrote as a demonstration of the threat and posted it to comp.sys.mac.programmer.misc newsgroup on March 20 along with the link.
The real question I have is it a feature or a security issue that code in the id tag of a MP3 file is executed? Also, is Intego guilty of trying to cash in on the virus craze?
Wired has published some great articles on the subject: Mac OS X Trojan a naghttp://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,63000,00.html? tw=newsletter_topstories_html
