Dude VanWinkle to Douglas F. Calvert:

What does this have to do with phishing?

Cuz you would have to have come directly from a Phish Concert to be
able to make a mistake like that.

I guess that is one possible take on it, but not what I had in mind...

My (obtuse) point was, if the banking industry (and specifically the
"advanced" financial services part of it in which this particular piece
of Mizuho operates) runs with such stupidly and incompetently designed
systems as to allow something so obviously borked to happen (Mizuho
placed an order to sell not only more shares than it had to know it
owned, but more shares than the stock exchange had to know were
available to Mizuho -- according to the article Mizuho's sell order
"represented 41 times the number of outstanding shares of recruitment
firm J-Com"...), it is incomprehensible that phishing MIGHT NOT exist
AND WORK.

Of course, given that such obviously broken systems clearly do exist
inside the banking industry, it is not actually incomprehensible that
some folk in the banking industry still find at the least the success
of phishing difficult to grasp, hence the ironic tone of my chosen
Subject: line...

Nick FitzGerald
