That's the "majority" argument pushed to the extreme. The "majority"
isn't always right. If it was, you'd fall off the end of the earth
walking past the edge.

Let's also admit that the term "IT security researcher" or "AV researcher" is, in many cases, a farce as well.
"technicians", "engineers", "specialist" would be more adequate but,
except for "engineer" (a protected title in many places) they lack
most of the aura of the "researcher" word.
Introducing that word was probably the first marketing success of the
A-V industry.
