Check out http://www.hobomotion.com/

The project is mostly dead - but I think it is somewhat relevant.

You may want to go into http://www.hobomotion.com/about.html to learn
about the actual project.

You may already know this, but your cell phone happens to be a
miniature
tracking device that can be used to monitor your location from afar.

Whereas here in japan, we have phones for kids that will tell
parents
where they are. (They call it safety here, not conspiracy, and
anyone
ranting about how teens would defeat this can leave. Its for
tiny kids.)

Given the cell nature of cellphones (as opposed to goat phones,
which are
sort of cheesy), triangulating position is an exercise for the
reader.

With CDMA ones and their need for super accurate time care of
GPS, one
wonders if the phone companies dont have live maps with dots
roaming
around on them (purely for capacity planning you know). "madame
fifi's
is looking kind of busy tonight, maybe they got new poodles.
Perhaps
we should add a mast there ..."

So much for promises from politicians.

I think believing anything that comes from any orifice or
appendage of
a politician is just asking for trouble. Unless you are that
politician,
in which case, the extra bit of sincerity helps...
