The author revision log is one thing of interest in Word documents. Here's one example of a revision log becoming part of an international incident: http://www.computerbytesman.com/privacy/blair.htm Richard -----Original Message----- From: funsec-bounces () linuxbox org [mailto:funsec-bounces () linuxbox org] On Behalf Of D'Aloisio, Marc Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 4:21 PM To: funsec () linuxbox org Subject: [funsec] Tracking Word documents In earlier versions of Office, Word documents were tagged with a GUID - a unique identifier that allowed one to track a word document back to a specific machine. It appears to be removed from Word 2002 documents. Does this ability to associate a document to a particular machine exist in newer versions of Word? The authors are easy enough to track, but I need to track to a specific machine, if possible.
