maybe people have to start sueing these companies that put private customer
/ employee data on portable laptops.... I know, just the last thing we
need, more lawsuits.... But maybe after they loose a few $100Mil cases
they'll actually start performing their Due dilligence to keep data that
should be treated as confidential off of a device that can be stolen by
grabbing and sticking it into a handbag.....

Via The Inquirer.

Individuals in HP sponsored retirement plans as well as former employees of
firms it took over have been told that a theft of a notebook containing
personal information needs to be taken seriously.

Immediately the theft, which happened on March 15th, was discovered, the law
was informed. The retired folk were told in a letter that the laptop
included a number of personal details relating to former employees.
