The partnership was announced Tuesday in New York during an event attended
by Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs and Nike CEO Mark Parker.

The two companies introduced the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, a wireless system that
allows special Nike shoes to relay information such as time, distance, pace
and calories burned to the iPod nano screen. Real-time audible feedback is
also provided through headphones.

The kit, which includes an in-shoe sensor and receiver that attaches to an
iPod, is expected to be available within 60 days for $29, the companies
said.

Nike said its first iPod-ready sneaker, the Air Zoom Moire, will cost $100
and be available in the U.S. and U.K. in mid July. It also plans to
introduce this fall six other footwear styles that are designed to hold the
sensor. Nike has also designed a line of apparel, including jackets, tops,
shorts and an armband that accommodate the iPod nano.

Apple, whose business has been revived by its popular music player, said it
plans to include a special Nike section on its iTunes store, which will
include workouts, voiceover instructions from athletes and sports podcasts.
