Two famous quotes consistently remind of the eroding liberties
that we are all experience.

First:

The Time Magazine variant (1989) of the famous poem attributed
to Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left
to speak up for me.

Secondly, the Latin proverb "Quid custodiet ipsos custodes?"

Speaking out against the erosion of privacy and individual
liberties is the job of every person who values them.

I have "1984" flashing infront of me everytime i read similar
stories, luckely for these people they still can challenge it.
More seriously the USA is become incereasedly similar to "third word"
countries were the gov can do much without having to explain itself to
anyone.I mean "no verified civil liberties abuses in the four years of
the [Patriot] act's existence." pleaase if it was violated the people
wouldn't be able to say anything abou it.

My two cent.

Best Regards Nervox (who does no tlive in the states but in another
autorative country).
