Like, say, somebody trying to register a .com domain with the words
"ebay" and "sign in" in it? Isn't it pretty obvious that something might be going on here? Of course it's a rhetorical question. Domain registrars, with very few exceptions, are a sleazy bunch in a sleazy business and we can thank ICANN, who sets the rules for the most part, for creating only unsavory incentives. There's no incentive for registrars to pursue fraud like this, even the low-hanging fruit. Only large companies are in a good position to defend themselves when their trademarks are violated. And if you're just a little guy whose domain was stolen through fraud you're up the creek; they don't care about you. _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
