-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Via M&C News. [snip] The Metropolitan police have been found to be illegally tapping the calls of one of their senior chiefs. Chief superintendent Ali Dizaei, who is also the legal advisor for members of the national black police association (NBPA), was bugged by the Met in what was known as Operation Helios. The investigatory powers tribunal found 'no lawful grounds' for the interception, which breached the officer's rights to privacy and did not gain consent. During the covert operation, the force listened in on over 3,500 private calls made by Mr Dizaei from a Kensington police station, including calls to members of the NBPA regarding their cases of racial discrimination.
