Unless this is a very old phone system, the feature that allows an outside caller to dial into your system and then dial back out almost always has to be specifically enabled for this very reason. This type of fraud was very popular in the 80's & early 90's. In fact 60 Minutes ran a piece on it during that time, IIRC. - Paul - On Dec 18, 2008, at 1:42 PM, Rob, grandpa of Ryan, Trevor, Devon & Hannah wrote:

However, I keep telling people: a) We don't know enough about phone systems, and unlike most of the breaches we deal with phone fraud costs you real money, right now. b) When you get hit and take the story to the telcos, the telcos, very profoundly, don't care. ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) rslade () vcn bc ca slade () victoria tc ca rslade () computercrime org Laughter is the joy of learning, squared victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/ archives/author/p1/ _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
