The future of cloud computing just got foggier. A new feature in Opera's browser aims to turn every Web client into a Web server. Maybe. File sharing, at least. http://vip.itworldcanada.com/t?ctl=53EC3:46C72B916E3085486D78A7221C7A6 B4D&&p=CI&sub=7345 In terms of availability, this sounds possible, although the backend stuff (and the article doesn't seem to talk about that) might still need some work. (Maintaining DNS tables, domain names, all that sort of thing.) In terms of confidentiality, I shudder. (Interestingly, Opera doesn't seem to be saying anything about this themselves: http://www.opera.com/browser/next/ ) ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) rslade () vcn bc ca slade () victoria tc ca rslade () computercrime org All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure. - Mark Twain http://victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm http://blog.isc2.org/isc2_blog/slade/index.html http://twitter.com/rslade http://blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/ _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
