Or just a marketing campaign? Mandiant seems to be playing coy. They will neither confirm not deny that they have been involved in the investigation into the "Aurora" related attacks on Google and other enterprises, which may or may not have originated in China. However, they have published a paper on "advanced persistent threats" (aka APT). You can't get this paper from their website ( http://www.mandiant.com/services/advanced_persistent_threat/ ), all you get is some promotional bumpf. Darkreading ( http://is.gd/7rGAN ) says the report sheds light on the attacks. Supposedly you can register to receive the report ( http://is.gd/7rHtx ): I'm waiting to see what appears in my mailbox. ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) rslade () vcn bc ca slade () victoria tc ca rslade () computercrime org The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't. - Henry Ward Beecher victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm blog.isc2.org/isc2_blog/slade/index.html http://blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/ http://twitter.com/NoticeBored http://twitter.com/rslade _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
