Patent people don't get to travel?

Apple has patented an e-ticket system.

OK, I can understand that patent examiners in the US are hired for low-digit IQs, 
and a lack of technical smarts.  But don't they ever get vacations?  This system 
looks identical to the ones the airlines have been pushing for a few years now.
