Its too bad the Home Office did not consult their own researchers at the Imperial College of London (from 2005): Paper's Natural 'Fingerprint' Could Be Built-In Passport Protection, http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=papers-natural-fingerprin. It could also be that Sarah Rapson, chief executive of the Identity and Passport Service, might have forgotten to mention it during the PR campaign.
