According to "Treasure Quest/Black Swan" which just aired on the GREEN channel, Peru wants a cut (the silver was mined and minted in Peru), and descendants of the ship's captain and crew want a cut. I wonder if the US will be making any back door deals for Peru or the ship's crew. It could be scandalous: Peru agrees to reduce shipments of cocaine in return for a cut of the treasure loot! A lot of national security related chatter here: A deep-sea treasure-hunting company in Florida says that diplomatic cables recently released by WikiLeaks have exposed the U.S. government’s backdoor interference in a lawsuit over $500 million in silver and gold coins recovered from a Spanish galleon. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/01/wikileaks-sunken-treasure/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
