http://www.ted.com/talks/caitria_and_morgan_o_neill_how_to_step_up_in_the_fa ce_of_disaster.html One of the recent TED talks. Yes, I'm all for volunteerism. Yes, it's great to tell people to step up and help in such a situation. But, as I have been saying for years, and as one of the quotes from the presentaiton ("Data is inherently unsexy, but it can jumpstart an area's [disaster] recovery") implies, get some training, in order to be ready. Talk to the emergency measures people in your community, or talk to the experts like Red Cross or St. John Ambulance. They will have training for you. Best get it *before* you need it ... ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) rslade () vcn bc ca slade () victoria tc ca rslade () computercrime org The last man on Earth sat alone in a room.
