An excellent book to get about hacker tools and tactics, step by step is "Hack I.T." by T.J. Klevensky, Scott Laliberte, and Ajay Gupta. I really enjoyed this book with its tactical ways how to exploit and attack systems (not intended for hacker purposes, but for penetration and educational purposes). It contains case studies how to attack a system externally and internally. The book is awesome and comes with CD contained with free tools and tools on a trial basis. -----Original Message----- From: Elaine Ng [mailto:elaine () diku dk] Sent: Friday, April 18, 2003 12:10 PM To: honeypots () securityfocus com Subject: Honeypots/nets and threat research Hi, I'm working on a project about using honeypots/nets to learn more about hacker tools and tactics as part of my master's degree. I was wondering if there are any companies out there who are actively using honeypots/nets to research threats, where the research is being fed back into product/patch development/testing, etc. If so, could you please email me at: elaine () diku dk? I'd be interested in working with you and learning more about this area. TIA, Elaine.
