Hi there,

we present SPANK -- a collection of programs to deploy, run and analyse network
and host simulations in IP networks. This can be done for pure network and
application simulation, or also for honeypot deployment to find out what is
happening on your network. SPANK provides several methods for this;

  - graphical system (using java) for network/host setup
  - analysis of network events from a gui module, and other modules
  - some methods to read logs and create reports based on application behaviour/logging
  - virtual file-systems within a mysql database for host/application simulation
  - some service applications (examples of using the virtual file systems)

The software has some of its early roots in a student project, but is otherwise
based on and directly using open-source software (honeyd, mysql, java packages...)
and is released under LGPL. Most of the software is written in python or java.

The current version is 0.2, and although some system parts are not complete
(like support for certain honeyd configurations) perhaps some people will still
find it useful in the current state. :-)
