Actually, I did check it out, it's true and I wrote a short bit about
it for Newsday last week. The tax doesn't really include any new areas
for taxation; it merely increases the tax on other already taxed services.
However, the state taxation and finance people seemed to be saying they
would be looking at info service providers ala prodigy more closely now.
They also said the tax was mainly geared toward dial-a-joke, 900-type
services.
