Charles hopes to find five people who live in Japan and work for US or European concerns and do distance work. A visiting researcher at Waseda University will interview these folks as part of a project on distance working Charles and his institute are working on with AT&T. Thanks, Adam AT&T Project This note is addressed to anyone out there in Cyberspace who is interested in distance workers. The Institute for the Study of Distributed Work is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the AT and T Foundation to study the work styles and effects of distance working on workers, their families and community. We are now soliciting participation from a wide range of people who are engaged in distance work. We would like your help in locating potential subjects for interview on this project. All data will be strictly confidential and no individual information will be included in technical papers or reports resulting from the study. We are seeking people with the following characteristics: 1. Conduct more than 50% of their work activities in a different physical location than their employer and at a time of their choosing. 2. Coordinate and conduct their work activities across sovereign political boundaries (e.g., live and work in the Japan, employer in United States or Europe) 3. Use telecommunications networks to receive work assignments and forward work products. 4. Have engaged in this way of work for more than six months. 5. Are willing to be telephonically interviewed for approximately 30 minutes, or submit a written questionnaire to us electronically.
