Dave

I am fine in Torrance but I noticed something interesting...

The electricity stayed on
The Gas was fine
The Phone service worked fine
RAM Mobile Data and Cellular work fine

BUT THE CABLE TV WENT OUT IMMEDIATELY AND WAS DOWN FOR FIVE HOURS!

Gentlemen,

LA (primarily) had a banger of an earthquake (6.5+) this morning. Portions of
freeways have collapsed , airports are closed, gas is leaking, fatalities in
core LA are highly probable.

ROGER!!! -Orange County felt the jolt but I spoke w/ my folks in Irvine and
things appear to be shaken but stable with minimal damage.

With the gas leaks and general mess in LA, our mutual customer, So. Cal Gas.
may need some support in the way of hardware and service. I suspect that
all available RF and telco resources will be maxed out in So. Cal for
hours or days.

Also CHP and Caltrans may need service. I believe this to be probable
as I headed up McCaw's 1989 SF earthquake response effort and experienced the
event for the first two days uninterrupted.

Anyway ... at minimum we should contact So. Cal Gas to see if they want
emergency units (RAM Packs) and determinine our ability to supply on
emergency basis ... given that our physical network is unaffected.. If
so....who is the key contacts at Gas. Co. Along with showing the value
of mobile messaging in crisis environment, we may save a life.
