Oxford University Professor Sir Roger Penrose will speak about the intricate workings of the human mind at a public talk in the UT-Dallas Conference Center, Saturday, September 23 at 7 p.m. CDT The lecture will also be netcast by use of CU-SeeMe; the reflector address is 129.110.31.9 More information may be found at URL http://www.utdallas.edu/orgs/sigmaxi/penrose.html "Shadows of the Mind," the title of both the talk and his recent book, examines questions of human thinking and human consciousness. Among Sir Rogers surprising conclusions are that the brains functions are not at all similar to a computers, and that to understand consciousness on a physical level will call for an expansion of our understandings of physics.
