Global Consultations on Internet Domain Name Issues

Questions relating to Internet domain names, including intellectual
property and related dispute resolution issues, will be addressed at a
series of worldwide consultation meetings initiated by the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

To encourage the widest possible participation, the WIPO Internet Domain
Name Process seeks to include the public sector and representatives from
the business, trademark, Internet engineering and public interest
communities in the discussions. Everyone may participate via the
Internet, or by attending regional consultations at any of the following
locations and dates:

San Francisco, California, USA Sept. 23
Brussels, Belgium Sept. 29
Washington, DC, USA Oct. 1
Cairo, Egypt Oct. 4
Mexico City, Mexico Oct. 6
Cape Town, South Africa Oct. 7
Asuncion, Paraguay Oct. 13
Tokyo, Japan Oct. 19
Hyderabad, India Oct. 22
Budapest, Hungary Oct. 22
Sydney, Australia Oct. 26

These one-day consultations are free and open to all
members of the public. Participants may attend and
participate in the open discussions, or elect also to
present a Statement at the meetings - which will also
be attended by WIPO officials and members of the
Panel of Experts constituted for the WIPO Process.

More information about the Process and the
Consultation meetings is available at
http://wipo2.wipo.int. WIPO RFC-2, which lists
the issues to be discussed at the meetings, will be
posted at this Internet site shortly.

The recommendations resulting from this Process
will be made available to the new Organization that
is being formed to manage the technical and
policy aspects of the Internet Domain Name System.
