A good example of the benefits of a broad education is at Stevens 
Institute of Technology. They require for an Abet approved 
Engineering program something like 8 courses in the liberal 
arts/humanities  in addition to a very engineering load. The credits 
are a lot more than any other engineering program I know.

The payoff -- Stevens , a small school, ranks number 11 in the 
country in corporate CEOs.
