AT&T Sets Special Shareowners Meeting For March 14, 2000

NEW YORK -- AT&T today announced that its Board of Directors had set March
14, 2000 for a special meeting of AT&T common group shareowners. At the
meeting, AT&T shareowners will vote on amendments to AT&T's charter to
create the AT&T Wireless Group tracking stock and to approve an amendment to
the 1997 Long Term Incentive plan. A majority of AT&T's outstanding common
shares is required for approval of the tracking stock proposal.

The special meeting will be held at the Hilton Parsippany, Route 10 West,
Parsippany, New Jersey.

AT&T common stock shareowners of record on January 26, 2000, including
holders of Liberty Media tracking stock, will be eligible to vote at the
special meeting. Following clearance from the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC), the company expects to begin mailing its proxy statement
and voting materials to approximately 4.2 million shareowners in early
February. The company filed a preliminary proxy statement with the SEC on
January 7, 2000.

AT&T intends to conduct an initial public offering of AT&T Wireless Group
tracking shares in the spring following the shareholder vote. AT&T
anticipates that a full distribution of the remaining shares in the AT&T
Wireless Group tracking stock will be made to shareowners of AT&T common
stock sometime thereafter. Only holders of AT&T common stock, not holders
of Liberty Media tracking stock, will be eligible for the full distribution.
