the world music business By Charles Arthur, Technology Editor 2 June 2000 A renegade team of British programmers has begun a project that could destroy the music business. They aim to develop a program to let millions of internet users swap MP3 music files without detection, undermining the industry's financial base. The two-man team in their project called "Metallicster", are trying to write a program building on the success of the "Napster" software, developed by a company of the same name in San Mateo, California. The Napster software is used by millions of people around the world to swap MP3 music files.
