Subject: "accountability"

what about accountability to existing "fair use" law??

since when is revoking rights unilaterally, undermining
clear Congressional intent and law considered "accountable" ??

and who does this "accounting"?? the people who manage to take
in $500 million dollars on a film that cost $75 million but yet
manage the cost allocations so that it "didn't make any profit" ??

or record labels who have managed to legalized indentured servitude
exploiting artists in purpetuity? how is this "accountable"??

this "accountability" notion is all part of The Big Lie - the notion
that "consumers" are guilty until proven innocent, and the fine print
says "there ain't no such proof". and that for some reason, "intellectual
property" is somehow different enough that "pay per use" of a piece of
music or a film is justified when i don't have to pay the car manufacturer
every time I drive my car for the "latent intellectual property" embodied
in the modern automobile (mine contains 27 computer processors).

so what "accountable" reason can be cited for this intellectually bankrupt
assault on consumers and "fair use" ??

there is no such answer - it's unalloyed avarice on the part of people who
have always made money off the sweat and talent of others, and it's been
a damn fine free ride.

Of course they will fight to the death to retain their death-grip on
this fountain of free money.
