I disagree. We should be celebrating Mike Powell's good fortune as a  
means for inspiring the "best and brightest" to do government service  
early in their careers.  If there isn't the prospect of having a very  
good job after government service, why would the best and brightest  
do government service until they approach the end of their careers?   
There are two types of people we need to attract to government  
service: 1)  bright youngsters from the top schools who are up-to- 
date in the law, economics, technology, etc. and have the energy to  
work 24x7; and, 2) old codgers (like you, me and others) who serve  
short periods in government and use their relevant experience,  
expertise and even wisdom to guide the energy and enthusiasm of the  
youngsters in the "right" direction.  If there is a "revolving door"  
problem, the fault would be with the old codgers who failed to mentor  
properly.
