Peter:

Dave's list constantly distributes such copies, and I am well aware of the issues, pro and con, involved in doing so. Since the Times has posted that article for all to see, it is not as if anyone was deprived of income; in fact, the Times was saved the expense of the bandwidth and was promoted in the process. Were it my Times column, I'd certainly have no problem with having it published on Dave's list. I beleive that the piece is also on the Times' RSS
feed.

By the way, one of the biggest mistakes the Times has made is putting some of its most influential columnists behind a "for pay" firewall. Krugman and Dowd
were once influential; now they're invisible. I couldn't imagine a more
self-destructive move for the newspaper to have made.
