The IBM-Wintel-Apple debate has been great.
My thoughts on this, if you wish...

As a convert to the Mac 18 months ago, I don't really care who  
provides the guts of my G4 Powerbook. I only care that it runs Mac  
software (which is light years better than anything in the PC world)  
and that it does so with the elegance and security that made me  
finally dump all my PC gear and invest $4 grand in Apple stuff.
I do care, though, if the Intel chips can make my machine run faster.
I'm running Tiger on a 1.33 Ghz G4 with 1.25 gigs of RAM and I'm  
seeing a lot of spinning beach balls. Maddening numbers of beach  
balls. Walt Mossberg noted this in his review of Tiger for the WSJ.
If Intel makes a faster chip and it can run this great software, OS  
X, and it stays secure and virus free, why should I care who fabbed  
the silicon inside the box?
Meanwhile, I sure wish Apple would fix this version of OS X and make  
Tiger more nimble. Or, perhaps that's why Apple is going to Intel --   
Apple realizes OS X is becoming too bloated for IBM's chips.
Whatever the case, I can't see ever going back to the Wintel world.  
Apple's hardware and software is just too good.
