So where is the study of what teachers expect of students, which study, of course, is written by students? More deeply, so what? This is true of every generation, none moreso than that of the teachers back when they were students and a preceding generation taught them. Here's a thought: how about a collaborative study by teachers *and* by students OF teachers *and* students to find better ways to teach and to learn relative to present circumstances? In this regard, perhaps an old Buddhist saying might serve as the an anchoring principle: the teacher and the student, together, create the teaching. Those are among the revelations in a newly published study examining students' sense of academic entitlement, or the mentality that enrolling in post-secondary education is akin to shopping in a store where the customer is always right. The paper describes academic entitlement as "expectations of high marks for modest effort and demanding attitudes toward teachers."
