When my niece moved to NYC, I told her we were a target city, and she should prepare an emergency kit the same way she prepared for earthquakes in San Francisco. Walking through the Times Square subway station at rush hour, you tip your hat to the eagle eyes who are watching out for you. Apparently it is now a problem if people do not overreact and freak out at anything called terrorism. Terrorist attacks in the US remain vanishingly rare and it is entirely reasonable for people to do exactly what they were planning to do in lower Manhattan. Here's a thought experiment: imagine that the same truck drove in from NJ, headed to lower Manhattan, but then it pulled over and a white guy with semi-automatic guns jumped out and killed and injured the same people in the same place. What would the punditariat be saying then? R's, John PS: for added versimilitude, imagine that instead of yelling "Allahu Akbar" he yelled "Blood and Soil."Archives | Modify Your Subscription | Unsubscribe Now
