Subject: Publication of testimony about U.S. system of foreign intelligence, and relation to EU privacy law

Hello Dave:

For IP, if you wish.

Today the International Association of Privacy Professionals published the testimony of three experts from what it
called "a potentially landmark case currently before the High Court of Ireland. The current case follows the 2015
decision by the Court of Justice of the European Union in Schrems v. Facebook, in which the CJEU struck down the
EU-U.S. Safe Harbor. The current case was also brought by Austrian lawyer Max Schrems against Facebook, this time
challenging the adequacy of protection for personal data transferred from the EU to the U.S. under standard
contractual clauses by companies subject to U.S. surveillance law.”

My own testimony contains over 300 pages of text, with its main task of explaining U.S. surveillance law to a
non-expert audience. Among other material, the testimony presents research on all of the cases declassified by the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court since the Snowden materials became public.

The IAPP page is at: https://iapp.org/resources/article/schrems-2-0-expert-testimony/
Other explanatory material, including a French translation of the summary chapter, at:

Best,

Peter
