By the time Wen Ho Lee, a Los Alamos nuclear physicist, met O'Melveny &
Meyers' Mark Holscher, he was facing FBI agents pressuring him to admit
to espionage. After Lee's daughter contacted Holscher, the firm decided
to represent Lee pro bono. "Someone who had been questioned without a
lawyer was being asked to sign a confession to a crime that was a death
penalty offense -- he needed a lawyer," Holscher said.
