Internet Security Systems (Nasdaq: ISSX), the Atlanta-based Internet security software and consulting company, announced the creation of two strategic units: Enterprise Solutions and Managed Security Services. Each new unit is charged with handling unique customer needs and delivery requirements for the company's SAFEsuite enterprise security management products and its outsourced security, consulting and education services. According to a company release, the move is part of the company's strategic focus on two markets -- companies that outsource security management and companies that wish to manage security themselves using security software. The Enterprise Solutions group will be responsible for maintaining relationships with businesses or government agencies that wish to manage security internally, while the Managed Security Services group will focus on meeting the needs of companies that prefer to rely on the company to remotely manage security and protect online assets. Internet Security Systems also named the management teams that will lead the new business units. Ken Walters, previously the COO of New York-based e-business consulting firm Xceed Inc., has been named general manager of the Enterprise Solutions group. Mark Hangen, who has served as COO for Internet Security Systems since December 1999, was appointed general manager of the Managed Security Services division. In a prepared statement, Tom Noonan, Internet Security Systems president and CEO, said the reorganization is also a way to meet the demands of expected growth in both security areas over the next few years. Shares of Internet Security Systems were trading up $1.06 to $66.75 in early morning activity. The 52-week low for the stock was $26.25, while the high was $141.
