There is no proxy support for msfupdate at this time, the script 
intentionally does not does not use or depend on the Socket classes in 
the Framework itself (just in case you wiped out the entire lib 
directory, you would be able to use msfupdate to pull down the missing 
files). If there is enough demand, we might be able to hack support in 
before 2.3.

If you are using the SOCKS protocol, the Dante application can be used to 
automatically tunnel network connections through the proxy, even if the 
original application does not directly support the SOCKS protocol.
