Rosslyn (the part of Arlington VA closest to DC) is also very nice. There are many good pubs and restaurants there. And several hotels are close to Metro stops. You're also about a 1 mile walk from Georgetown, if night-life interests you. (I would recommend not driving into Georgetown - traffic is a real nightmare there.) -- David
