Firefox has a gazillion "advanced" config settings that allow you to remove all the fluff added to try to emulate Microsoft's virus explorer. When I switched platform I went from Mozilla to Firefox and spent a fair amount of time finding out how to disable those unwanted features. Disabling the feature that send all your URL typos to Google was one of the first things I strived to do. When I type http://museum/ I get a "not found " error message. But nslookup museum works. With all the phishing shananigans, you'd think the folks outside of microsoft who would strive to avoid features that could bring you to unwanted destinations and they should just stick to feeding your host name string to the resolver and letting resolver decide how to manipulate that string to resolve it.
