The mapping server idea that several proposals use do not appear to keep the smartness at the edges, rather they seem try to make a smarter core network. Is a DNS server core or edge? ILNP aims to use the DNS as its mapping service. -------------------------------------------------- DNS root name servers are at the 'core'. No?
ILNP puts the interesting state at the edge DNS servers. DNS is used in a very similar way to how it is used today: an FQDN is mapped to an identifier and set of locators. Today's DNS gives you the same information, except that there's only one locator and it's concatenated with the identifier and called an address. Tony
