Was trying to explain things to a telco VP today. Finally settled on,

"The Internet is out of 10 digit phone numbers. We're upgrading to 40 digit phone numbers. Unfortunately, the two can't dial each other directly."

After 51+ years in the telco industry, I think he gets that problem.
