Re: Scanning speeds - unexplained behaviour

I have fooled with nmap quite a lot, and all I have discovered about the
time taken to scan is that:
 - open ports scan quicker
 - SYN and connect() scans are MUCH quicker than other types
 - ARP takes very close to zero claim to whatever wait you may encounter
