Happy March, everyone. I want to start by thanking the 998 people who have the new Nmap Survey! That puts us more than half way to the number of 2003 survey responses, and 40% of the way to our 2006 goal of 2,500. I've been peeking at the early results, and they are very interesting. Many new tools have been released since the last survey, and one of those might even break into the top 5 of the new tools list! You guys have also left many interesting and useful comments, security sites, etc. And for those of you who haven't yet completed the survey, please take a moment to do so. If you hurry, you may even be #1000. Here is the URL again: http://www.insecure.org/nmap/survey.html Completing the survey gives you the sort of good karma that may make your scans go faster, crash less often, and generate fewer complaints to your ISP. At the very least, it lets you influence Nmap development without having to write any C++ code. As soon as we get to 2500, I'll shut it down and compile results for you all. In other news, I have added RSS feeds to Seclists.Org, which archives the best security mailing lists. This makes it even easier to keep up with the latest news from Nmap-Hackers, Nmap-Dev, Bugtraq, and all of the others. In Firefox, you can just click the feed icon in the URL bar while viewing a page from your favorite list and add it as a live bookmark or toolbar button. I also added Dailydave, a highly technical discussion list that covers vulnerability research, exploit development, and security events/gossip. Oh, and I stayed up late drawing a bunch of stupid little icons. You can find all of this at http://seclists.org/ . Cheers, Fyodor PS: Don't forget http://www.insecure.org/nmap/survey.html _______________________________________________ Sent through the nmap-hackers mailing list http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-hackers
