Hi Folks. I have some Nmap news to share with you:

First off, I'm delighted to introduce the 2010 Nmap/Google Summer of
Code Team! Google has sponsored eight student developers to spend
this summer enhancing the Nmap Security Scanner and related projects,
so you can expect great things in coming months. Ithilgore and Luis
MartinGarcia are returning to improve Ncrack and Nping, new students
Drazen Popovic and Djalal Harouni will be working on the Nmap
Scripting Engine, Kirubakaran Sampath will focus on the Zenmap GUI,
and Alexandru Totolici is taking Nmap into the cloud! Development
will happen on the nmap-dev list, so you can participate by joining
the list at http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-dev. For
full details on the winners, see
http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2010/q2/285.

Also, there have been some interesting articles lately. SANS ISC
wrote one showing off the new protocol payload system
(http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=8110) and Dark Reading has a
good article titled "Nmap Does Much More Than Network Discovery" at
http://bit.ly/drnmap. It is nice to see Nmap's newest features
recognized and explained.

That brings us to the Nmap/SecTools survey. Thanks to the 2,486 of
you who have taken it already! We're just 514 away from our goal of
3,000, and we're really looking forward to finishing so we can close
it up, tabulate and share results, choose the prize winners, and build
a new SecTools.Org! I hope to close it within days, and this is my
final nag email. So if you haven't taken it yet, please do so at
http://nmap.org/survey/. It is all on one page, and every question is
optional.

Cheers,
Fyodor
