nmap fault

hi I am running windows 98 se and have installed nmap 4.00. When I attempt 2 run a scan it informs me that the program 
has performed an illegal operation and then closes.
In details it say

While searching the web I found a simmalar email on your site asking the same question
as mine. But I was unable 2 locate an answer 2 the problem I hope u will be able 2 help
