It's true. There are many asynchronous DNS libraries out there. Some, like libadns, actually are really good! But unfortunatley none of them use Nmap's asynchronous socket library nsock which makes it difficult to use them asynchronously with other NSE scripts. But it might be possible to PORT libadns to nsock, who knows?
I remember reading the technical paper about dnsd... quite good, Doug.
