Since WinXP with a wireless card precludes using nmap for all but basic sweeps, I was wondering if anyone in the group might know if using a liveCD of BackTrack or another Linux distro might work?
I should make it clear that all the features of Nmap work with wireless cards work under Windows, as long as the wireless card is being used as an Ethernet device. Your setup is different because your wireless card is being used as a point-to-point device; that's why it shows up with the name ppp0 instead of eth0 or something like that. Nmap doesn't have any problem with everyday wi-fi connections. Using a live CD will work as long as it has drivers for your wireless card. But you appear to have some kind of custom setup, so I can't say for sure. What is it, a cell phone modem?
