I recommend teaching yourself lua and either writing or improving scripts. There are probably thousando of potentially useful scripts, and only about 60 written. A neat idea I had that may or may not be possible is a script that interacts with filesharing ports (limewire, gnutella, whatever) and tells you all the information possible. Pulling a list of shared files would be really cool, if do-able. That's just a random thought, but scripts are definitely the way to go if you want to help out.
